About us · London
We want everyone to feel connected to their community.
Outsidey was started to address a paradox most people recognise: the city is filled with extraordinary people, and more going on than almost anywhere in the world, but somehow it can feel impossible to make friends. The third places that used to bring people together are disappearing, and more of our time goes online, on empty-calorie socialising that fills the hours and leaves us no closer to anyone.
The most fulfilling time is spent in person, with people you love. Our mission is to make that as easy as possible, starting with a community built around you.

What we believe
Familiar faces, not introductions.
A community is built on familiarity.
Friendships develop naturally when people regularly share experiences, without anyone having to force them.
Doing something together beats talking across a table.
Shared activity takes the pressure off. Nobody has to perform, and the conversation looks after itself.
We need a new alternative to third spaces.
The places that create spontaneous connections – pubs, churches, clubs – have slowly gone, and screens filled the gap.
The product should get out of the way.
All of the value happens offline. Our goal is for you to spend less time on a screen; not more engagement.
London deserves a love letter.
Independent venues, hidden parks, interesting corners. Sharing them is half the point.
What makes us different
Matched once. Together often.
It starts with a short quiz. We place you in a community of compatible people near you. Then we organise events with people from your community, and you turn up to the ones you like.

Dread walking into a room full of strangers?
Events are small, and the people in them were matched to get on.
Never sure whether to ask for someone's number?
You will see them again. Don't stress the initial awkwardness.
Tired of clubs that live or die by one volunteer organiser?
We run the events, so they keep happening.
Fed up with apps that always want more of your time?
Nothing to scroll, nobody to message. You RSVP and you go.
Stuck in the same places, doing the same things?
A different corner of London each time, at venues we have checked.
The weekend
How a weekend with us works.
Any time
Browse events.
Events go up weeks ahead: one for your community each week, plus a few open to everyone.
- You see the activity, day, area and group size.
- The venue, exact time and who is coming are confirmed later.
Before Thursday
RSVP to the ones you like.
An RSVP tells us you want to go. It is not a ticket for a fixed seat.
- Nothing sells out, so there is no rush.
- Why: we choose groups from everyone who RSVPs to ensure we put the most compatible people together.
Thursday night
Get your confirmation.
We email you everything you need.
- Where to go and what time to arrive.
- Who is coming, by first name and photo.
The weekend
Go to the event.
Meet your group at the venue. Before you go, read what we expect from you.
- You pay the venue directly, like a friend organised it.
- Afterwards, mark anyone you'd like to see again as a connection.

Trust and safety
Our rules, and our commitments.
Both lists are short. The detail is in our Community Guidelines.
What we expect from you
- Add a real photo of you before your first RSVP.
- Be respectful; turn up on time, let others talk, don't be argumentative.
- Platonic by default. Nobody likes unwanted attention. If two people mark each other as connected, they will see each other again. No need to exchange numbers.
- If something feels wrong, tell us.
What you can expect from us
- Your first name and photo are shown only to the people at your event.
- Events are at venues we have checked, never in private homes.
- Every event proposal is reviewed before it is published.
- Every report is read, and reporters are kept confidential.
- We will never sell your data.
Where, and who for
Outsidey is strictly for over-18s. We operate in London for now, but we are planning on expanding to other cities in the UK over the coming months.
